Asbestos Awareness in Construction- CITB approved

This course has been approved by CITB as meeting the appropriate training standard

Course Overview: Aimed at all construction workers to have a basic understanding of the hazards associated with asbestos and what the client should be informing at the start of work/at the induction if relevant.

• Harmful effects on the body • Protection needed • Routes of entry • Types of work • Understanding the minimum emergency procedures

Course Content:

• 3 main Types of Asbestos • Asbestos related diseases • Emergency Arrangements • History of the use of asbestos including the final ban • Images of asbestos in buildings covering the full range of friability (cement – Spray lagging) • Legal Framework supporting the Control of Asbestos Regulations • Managing Asbestos in Buildings (Client/PC/Site Agent) Responsibilities • Overview of CAR 2012 • Possible locations of asbestos • Types of surveys and the information found in the reports • Types of Training available • What is Asbestos
