Course Overview: This course is designed to help individuals to understand their responsibilities in dealing with personal data and how to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. It gives an overview of the Act and concentrates upon how data protection should be managed within the organisation. It looks at the Data Protection Principles and how to apply them in the workplace

Course Objectives:

  • Understood how the Data Protection process should be managed
  • Understood the principles of the Data Protection Act and the intended outcome
  • Clarified the principles of the Act
  • Identification of processing within the scope of the Act
  • Summarised the rights of the data subject

  • How to comply with the Act
  • How to comply with the Data Protection Principles
  • How to ensure you are respectful of data subjects rights
  • How to deal with subject access requests
  • Policies and practices to adopt

At the end of the course, the organisation will have complied with the requirements of Data Protection registration in that training will have been provided for all staff. It is important that an accurate register is kept of those attending the training to illustrate this compliance.
