Apprentice Electronics Engineer Circad Design Ltd

Brief overview of the role

Circad Design is a growing electronics design and manufacture business offering an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced business. They have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join their team in Ipswich as an apprentice.

• Working week o 40 hours per week 7.30am - 4.00pm (Days TBC) o Total hours per week: 40.00 • Weekly wage £156.00 • Expected duration 15 months

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship

Vacancy Description

During the apprenticeship you will spend time in the following departments:

• Test department • Production /Assembly department • Reflow, SMT/Assembly department • QC, Goods Out/Dispatch departments

In this role you will learn to produce, test, repair and diagnose faults in electronic circuits over a wide variety of processes. This will involve learning to read schematics, assembling boards and fault finding. With this apprenticeship, you will gain an understanding of electronics for a variety of products for national and international clients and also learn the skills to QC products.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Observing, learning and understanding a wide range of Surface mount skills, Techniques and processes while under the instruction of skilled technical staff

• Setting up machines including - Screen Printer, Placement Machine, reflow oven

• Running a full SMT line

• Maintaining equipment

• Programming, inspecting and testing PCB Assemblies

• Assembling boards in production including soldering and placing components

• Final assembly of electronics products and QC

• Will learn the ability to carry out hands on rework of printed circuits boards, including SMT devices with fine pitched leads and leadless components

• To be able to demonstrate these skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department

• To undertake and successfully complete suitable course work throughout the training period

• Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the company

• To learn how to maintain workshop equipment and to keep it in good repair

• To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace areas

• To maintain a smart appearance and to act in a professional manner at all times

• To perform any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the position


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

• Basic knowledge of operating computers but not essential • Any basic knowledge of PCB or Electronic components but not essential

Personal qualities

• Punctual • Eager • Results driven

Desired qualifications

• There are no desired qualifications, although maths and English would be beneficial Future prospects • If the candidate is successful upon completion of the apprenticeship, there will be a full time position available

Level 2 NVQ Performing Manufacturing Operations: • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements • Promoting effective working relationships • Preparing for manufacturing operations • Ensuring effective handover of manufacturing operations contributing to improving effectiveness in the workplace • Manufacturing products using combined manufacturing operations • Functional Skills English and maths (if required)
