First Aid for Mental Health - FAA Level 2 Award - 1 day

Accredited Training: This 1-Day course covers the content of the Level 1 course aimed at providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help. It also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

Learning Outcomes: Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health. Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition. Know how to recognise and manage stress. Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions. Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health. Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place. Know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.

Intended Audience: Ideal for workforce, line managers and Supervisors/nominated worker

Entry requirements: 14+ It may be possible to allocate a reasonable adjustment to a learner who has a disability, medical condition or learning need; learners should contact their training provider to discuss. Any reasonable adjustments granted must be in line with the FAA Reasonable Adjustments Policy

**Course Assessment: ** Level 2 written assessment paper and the practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. Delegates must pass both parts of the assessment.

Duration: Level 2 minimum 6 hours contact time

Certification: This qualification is regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) It also sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The course is valid for 3 years and it is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.

Requalification: The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three year.
